Fat Loss

To Sergio….(My very, very patient & brilliant personal trainer/ instructor at Shawsu, Los Altos) I congratulate you on your success with my program with the limited time and ability. As you know, I had specific goals to reach within a three month window. I had the dreaded “muffin top” and was out of cardio and core strength shape. You and your workout Studio put together a comprehensive plan with welcome diversity….although the hanging “pull-ups” were a definite challenge to my goals. I chose the 6:00am workouts which in the cold and rainy weather were a miracle to make …however, “call me crazy” it was always a great feeling to complete the hour and feel so energized. THANK YOU is a much used phrase but I truly appreciated your attention to detail, creativity, compassion and discipline. I am a skeptic by nature but I must admit I feel stronger and look “muffin-topless”

“Sergio is a great Personal Trainer. His knowledge level, desire to learn, desire to grow professionally, and his true understanding of the physical mechanics of the human body is demonstrated in his ability to train and motivate clients of varying levels.

He’s been able to help me fully understand how to work out properly ensuring that old injuries do not occur again and encourages me to push myself. He willingly shares his expertise with you to make the sessions fun, challenging, and a learning experience.

As with any profession, you have those who do the bare minimum to get by and you will have those on the opposite spectrum who excel and are considered “Masters” in their field. Sergio is a “Master Personal Trainer” .” September 9, 2011

Sports Performance

“I qualified for the first tournament in Chicago and we won by 16 shots which was so much fun.

In terms of the program, I thought you did a great job. It seemed like you worked hard to understand the specifics of the golf swing and then target the program toward those needs. You worked well with me in the beginning to build initial strength and then scaled it up well from there. I had a great time working with you and hope we will cross paths again in the future!”

“I hired Sergio after watching many trainers for several weeks because I felt Sergio would treat me like an athlete and not like an old lady. I’m 51, I comlete in Masters sports, and have various minor injuries. Sergio created a very personalized custom work out for me that accommodated my physical therapy program and my “crunchy” knees. Even more impressive, Sergio worked simultaneously with both me and my soccer playing teenager in joint training sessions that gave us both great workouts.” May 3, 2010

Rehab

“I am so grateful that you have been apart of my life and have taught me so much about my body and strength. You made me believe when I didn’t believe that I could recover from my hip injury. Not only did you help rehab my hip injury, but also gave me the strength to achieve more than I ever thought was possible.”

End of week 3, and I feel GREAT!   MaxOut is run by Sergio who is an amazing trainer.  We go to his bootcamp, which is M-F 7:30-8:30 pm (there are also a couple morning classes) and it is SO addicting.  My BF and I originally got hooked on the bootcamp concept when we bought a Groupon for a bootcamp called Fit Body Bootcamp in Campbell.  But after a week they actually went out of business.  Luckily for us, Sergio had JUST started his bootcamp and we happened to know Sergio through a friend so we started going to MaxOut instead.

It’s held at Shawsu Workout Studio in Los Altos (http://www.yelp.com/bi…), which is a great little fitness studio.  If you’ve been going to 24 hour fitness for 10 years like me, the intimacy and quality of a small fitness studio will reallllllly be a welcome change.

Here’s what a normal workout is like: stretching, strength training (I can do some pretty awesome deadlifts now…woohoo!) and then conditioning.  The conditioning is kick ass – usually a combination some cardio intervals worked in with weights.

Here’s the reason I’d suggest it to anyone.  I’ve always been an active person, but honestly…the gym bored me to DEATH.  I felt SO unproductive there…my BF and I would be there for an hour and a half and I didn’t feel like I was actually hitting  all my body parts.  I would do the SAME cardio every time, and some random weight lifting.  With bootcamp, Sergio has a good workout planned out and in ONE hour, I feel like my ENTIRE body gets worked a little.  Not to mention he asks for your goals and tries to work them into his bootcamp schedules.  He really knows what he is talking about.  It’s like having a personal trainer that you get to see every single day, but in a fun group atmosphere.  And now, instead of dreading the gym everyday, bootcamp is my favorite part of the day.  What a 180 change.

It’s also cheaper than a lot of other bootcamps in the area that I’ve looked into, AND I like to work out at night not the morning, and almost all other bootcamps are only in the morning.  I’ve finally found something I KNOW I will continue to do for a long time…and it’s exciting.  Not to mention I FEEL stronger everyday and MUCH better about myself.

Sergio, YOU KICK ASSSS!
